Jammu, Oct 6: The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) celebrated its 41st Foundation Day with great enthusiasm at the Jammu office of its J&K and Ladakh UT Unit on Monday.
An official spokesperson said the occasion was marked by a series of events symbolising the organisation’s long-standing commitment to solidarity, service, and social responsibility.
The celebrations began with a Tree Plantation Drive in the premises of SBI Bahu Plaza, Jammu, underscoring AIBOC’s dedication to environmental stewardship and community welfare. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony at the Jammu Office, which witnessed an impressive gathering of officers and members from across the region.
Addressing the gathering, Rajesh Mehta, Secretary of the J&K and Ladakh UT Unit of AIBOC, reflected on the confederation’s remarkable journey since its inception. “As we celebrate the 41st Foundation Day of AIBOC, we relive the visionary ideals that built this movement — a saga of resilience, inclusiveness, and justice that has withstood challenges while upholding the integrity of public sector banking,” he said.
Mehta highlighted AIBOC’s pivotal role in defending the autonomy of public sector banks and ensuring that banking remains an instrument of social transformation, economic empowerment, and national prosperity.
He reiterated the confederation’s constructive stance toward contemporary challenges such as privatisation and external pressures on bank autonomy, affirming that AIBOC would continue to champion strong, sustainable, and people-centric banking.
Expressing solidarity with officers across private and foreign banks, he said, “We reaffirm our commitment to fair labour practices and trade union rights for all banking professionals, irrespective of sectoral affiliation.”
Mehta also emphasised the need to address Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) disparities and ensure equitable recognition of every officer’s contribution. Commending the public sector banks (PSBs) for their outstanding growth and innovations in financial inclusion, he praised their vital role in driving the nation’s development.
Touching upon the future of banking, he said AIBOC envisions a technologically proficient, future-ready officer cadre — equipped to adapt to the rapid advances in AI, automation, and digital innovation while remaining anchored in empathy and ethics. “While technology evolves, the human touch and trust — the essence of public sector banking — must remain intact,” he asserted, adding that job security must remain a cornerstone of this transformation.
Concluding his address, Mehta paid tribute to the confederation’s founding leaders and senior members for their sacrifices and guidance, urging all officers to rededicate themselves to the ideals of democracy, solidarity, and collective progress.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of AIBOC’s mission to strengthen the banking sector and contribute meaningfully to national growth and development.
