Admin launches drive to curb overcharging by Barbers, Beauty Parlours in Bandipora

Huge quantity of expired items seized, 12, 600 fine recovered

Bandipora, April 17: The Department of  Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) on Wednesday launched a  special  Market Checking to curb overcharging by shop keeprs  especially  parlours and barbers.

          The  inspection squad lead by Assistant Director Reyaz Ahmad inspected various markets of Bandipora including Nowpora Market, Nebripora, Iqbal Market, fruit Mandi Market, Gulshan chowk, Old Bus stand and other adjoining areas. TSO enforcement Gh Mohudin Kawa along with enforcement officers Yasir Arafat, Ishtiyaq ahmad Rafiq Ahmad, Irshad Ahmad and Navid Anjum also accompanied the team.

During inspection, the squad inspected different Food establishments where 01 quintals of Polythenes, rotten vegetables were destroyed besides food colouring agents and dirty utensils were also destroyed on spot and a fine of Rs. 12600 was realised from the defaulters.

          During the checking, Parlours, Saloons and bakery shop owners were directed to display rate lists issued by the competent authority.

          AD FS&CA said that District administration is taking stringent measures to ensure the quality of edible items at affordable prices to people and decided to act tough against overcharging or violating hygiene standards by traders.

          Expired products were also seized from various saloons and beauty parlours in huge quantity.
