Shopian, Jan 24: As part of the preparations for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations, a full-dress rehearsal was today held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz unfurled the National Flag, took salute and inspected the parade, comprising contingents of CRPF, J&K Police, J&K Police Women’s Contingent, Home Guards and Forest Protection Force.
Addressing the gathering, ADC said that Republic Day is celebrated in honour of those brave souls who worked with dedication and laid down their lives for the nation. He emphasized that the day reminds citizens of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the responsibility of upholding the values of the Constitution.
ACR,Shakoor Ahmad Dar and ASP, Shopian, Rameez Rashid were Guests of Honour on the occasion.
Senior officers of district administration and citizens and officials were present on the occasion.
