Nowpora Residents Protest against non availability of drinking water

Bandipora:- The residents of Nowpora area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on thursday staged  protests demonstrations at main chowk Nowpora against non availability of drinking water in their locality.

Chanting slogans against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, scores of men and women gathered at Nowpora Chowk and blocked Srinagar-Bandipora highway, Bandipora-Gurez highway, Bandipora-Sopore highway to press their demand.

The residents of Nowpora ,staged a sit-in at Nowpora Chowk and burnt rubber Tyres on road resulting in massive traffic jam on the highways.

“We are facing shortage of drinking water since long and the authorities are only providing lip-service, said a protester, Mohammad Sarwar.
He further said that They had apprised the authorities regarding the miseries but they are not paying any heed to our demands, we seek uninterrupted  water supply,” he maintained.

The protest was held for three hours.

The protesters dispersed peacefully after Officials from PHE and Local police assured to redress their grievances.
