HKM’s Sabahat Afreen Wins Bronze in Pencak Silat Championship
Bandipora, Jan 31: Sabahat Afreen, a student from Hassan Khoyihami Memorial (HKM) Government Degree College Bandipora, secured a Bronze Medal in the 55-60 Kg Weight Category at the All-India Inter-University Pencak Silat Championship for Women held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, from January 25th to 27th, 2024.
She earned the opportunity to represent Kashmir University at the National level after impressing at the Pencak Silat inter-university trials in Srinagar on January 11th, 2024.
An official spokesperson said the milestone achieved by the student is a significant achievement for both Sabahat Afreen as well as the HKM College Bandipora, showcasing the college's prowess on the national stage.
“The college community celebrates her success, recognizing her as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes within the institution. Beyond individual excellence, her win emphasises the nurturing sports environment at HKM Bandipora,” College said in the statement.
The college administration congratulated her on this win and is excited about supporting more victories down the road.
