DC Bandipora inspects Wullar Walkway progress, interacts with locals
Bandipora, Jan 24: As part of the public outreach programme, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather, Wednesday visited SK Payeen village to interact with the local community and inspect the progress of the ongoing works of the Non Motorable Wullar Walkway.
Accompanied by senior officials from the district administration and other departments, the DC was warmly welcomed by the villagers. He held a detailed conversation with them, understanding their concerns and aspirations for the future of their village.
The interaction covered a range of topics, including agriculture, irrigation facilities to agricultural land, healthcare, education, water sports, cleanliness of Wullar Lake, and the potential of tourism development in the region.
The DC assured the villagers of the commitment of district administration to address their issues and work towards the overall development of the area.
Meanwhile, the DC visited the site of the under-construction Non Motorable Wullar Walkway, a project aimed at boosting tourism and creating recreational opportunities for locals and visitors alike.
It was announced that the 3.2 kilometre walkway, once completed, will offer stunning views of the Wullar Lake, the largest freshwater lake in India.
The concerned further informed that the project comprises tile path, cycle track, and green leisure besides two parking slots at an allocated cost of rupees 18.76 crore.
During the inspection, the DC emphasised the importance of maintaining quality standards and adhering to the project timeline. He directed the officials concerned to expedite the construction process and ensure timely completion of the walkway
Among others, the DC was accompanied by ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi, CEO WMDA, G M Bhat, ACP Muzaffar Ahmad, Tehsildar Bandipora Sheikh Tariq besides other concerned Officers.
