MD CVPPL calls on EPFO Commissioner Rizwan-ud-Din to discuss employee’s issues

Jammu, Jan 05: The Regional Commissioner Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Jammu on Friday held a meeting with Managing Director Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL)  with an aim to resolve the pending issues of employees and workers of contractors.

         An official spokesperson said a significant number of employees and Next of Kins of accidental deaths have approached the EPFO Commissioner Rizwan-ud-Din with several pending issues.

Spokesperson said Regional Commissioner EPFO accordingly took up the matter with Chairman NHPC Rajiv Vishnoi, who promptly responded and facilitated a meeting in this behalf with Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL) .

Accordingly  Shri Ramesh Mukhiya, M D Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL) called on P F Commissioner, Rizwan Uddin and urged for enhancing awareness and compliance with the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Miscellaneous Provisions (MP) Act, 1952.

“It was decided that CVPPL would review compliance of all the contractors engaged directly or as sub-contractors  in various Power Projects being executed  by CVPPL in J & K”.

 Saroj Kumar Sethi was accordingly designated as Nodal Officer towards specific assignment who would ensure proper compliance of all the Contractors.

Spokesperson said EPFO would also facilitate the work through  awareness programmes and landholding sessions. “Nidhi Apke Nikat 2.0 ( NAN 2.0) would be Organized in Kishtwar in association with CVPPL”.

He further stated that the meeting between EPFO and MD, CVPPL highlighted the importance of not only enforcing regulations but also fostering a culture of understanding and cooperation among employers and workers.

“RPFC-I has also stressed for strict compliance by the defaulters contractors/sub-contractors engaged through CVPPL and further stressed on enrolling the new subscribers in the Kishtwar district and in other areas also where the CVPPL projects are going on at present”.

According to the statement, the CVPPL has requested to provide the publicity materials of EPFO for advertising them and creating awareness about the EPFO Schemes at their Project Sites.

“Project Manager , M/s Patel engineering was also present in the meeting who was directed to provide details of remittances of all the contractors engaged in J& K and Ladakh to nodal Officer of CVPPL,  prior to March, 2023 and thereafter,” reads the statement issued to Kashmir Convener.

On the occasion Rizwan Uddin, explained the importance of social security in today’s scenario. He highlighted the key features of the Employees' Pension Scheme, 1995 and the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976. “These two prominent social security schemes are being extended to workers in J&K and Ladakh from November, 2019,” he said.
