Bandipora oct 30: The Bandipora District Table Tennis Championship organised by District Table Tennis Association Bandipora concluded at S.K Sports Stadium Bandipora, here on Monday.
An official spokesperson of the association said the tournament was organised under the aggies of J&K Table Tennis Association and in collaboration with J&k Sports Council under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative.
He said around 50 players in different categories participated in the event. In senior men Junaid Iqbal
defeated Shahid Mir by 3-2, In Under 19 (boys) Imran Ramzan defeated Suhaib by 3-2, In Under 17 (boys) Khaqan Yousuf defeated Muzain Zahoor by 3-0. In under 15 (boys) Zahir Amin defeated Hatim Bhat by 3-1 while in Under 13 (boys) Mohammad Husaib defeated Rizwan Khan by 3-2.
In the Under 19 (girls) category Ruman Jan defeated Rutba by 3-0. In Under 17 girl's category, Nazrana defeated Tabish Mushtaq by 3-1 while in Under 13 girl’s category Toiba defeated Tabassum by 3-2 in the finals.
Sheikh Tariq, Tehsildar Bandipora was the chief guest of the closing ceremony while Insp. Sajad Ahmad, SHO Bandipora, Mohammad Muneer, Chief Patron Ali's Sports Academy Bandipora were the guests of honour.
While addressing the event, Tehsildar Bandipora, acknowledged the District Table Tennis Association Bandipora for organising such tournaments in the District with an aim of promoting the sport.
He encouraged all players, emphasising that whether they won or lost, it’s all part of the game. For those who faced defeat, he urged them not to be disheartened but to take it as a challenge. For the winners, he advised against complacency, instead encouraging them to focus on becoming a part of the national team and championship.
