Bandipora, 05 June: The Bandipora police for the first time seizes the property of a notorious drug peddler in an attempt to showcase it as a tough stance against drug pedling.
An official said the police invoked a provision under the NDPS Act to confiscate the property of a notorious drug peddler. The property is valued at about Rs 56 lakh.
According to the Police, Khursheed Ahmad Waza alias Mandela was involved in NDPS cases in Bandipora.
Authorities issued the freezing order on monday under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The accused drug peddler was arrested numerous times in NDPS cases.
In a tweet Bandipora police said, In a first, Bandipora Police has seized illegally acquired property of a notorious drug peddler Khursheed Ahmad Waza alias MANDELA under NDPS Act.A residential plot measuring 1 kanal 1.5 marlas worth a market value of ₹ 44 lakh and two vehicles worth ₹ 12 lakh have been seized as illegally acquired property through sale of narcotic drugs.
