Mother-son duo held with ‘charas’ in Bandipora

Bandipora, 13 March: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that it has arrested mother-son duo along with charas like substance packed in sachets and recovered Rs 6980 from their possession in North Kashmir's Bandipora district.
A Police spokesperson said, "Bandipora Police recovered charas like substance packed in sachets along with a cash seizure of Rs 6980 from the mother-son duo namely Posha Begum and Aqib Waza, whose father Khurshid Waza (alias Mandela) has already been booked.
SSP Bandipora Lakshay Sharma in a tweet said the entire family has been involved in selling of charas in the town. "Their arrest is likely to end the supply network of drugs like charas in Bandipora town," he hoped.
Police is also going to apply for bail cancellation in the previous cases.
In an another tweet, Bandipora Police said that it has recovered charas like substance along with cash seizure of 71,845 and arrested one lady Babli Begum who is a repeat offender, presently out on bail in an earlier NDPS Case. Cognizance taken under the relevant sections of NDPS Act in PS Bandipora.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bandipora,” an officer said.
An official told that acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Station Bandipora led by SHO PS Bandipora Dysp Mohd. Farhan under the supervision of DYSP Hqrs Bandipora Shafat Mohammad arrested these drug peddlers.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” he added.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace,” said police officer.
