NFSA implementation depriving J&K people of Rations: ANC
Jammu: The Awami National Conference today claimed that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) implemented in state by the PDP-BJP government has some serious shortcomings and that it has deprived a large population of the state of existing rations. Large section of people has been deprived of the existing scale of rations in the state,” ANC Provincial President, S. Gian Singh today said in a press statement in Jammu.
Singh said the implementation of NFSA should not deprive any individual or bonafied family of the existing quota of ration being availed by them as the people of the state cannot afford it in view of the sufferings undergone by them during two-and-a-half decades of turmoil in the state. He said government in the state should take up the issue with the Centre to sort out the shortcomings so that the people do not suffer on this count.
He said the PDP-BJP government has totally failed to address the shortcomings. “Not only they have failed to address the shortfalls but also are making false claims as it has failed to provide sugar and ration to the people even as per the existing scales since they came to power,” he said. He said both PDP and BJP played regional and emotional cards to hoodwink the people for winning elections and later betrayed them for the sake of power.
Massive discrepancies had come to the fore in the database compiled by the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) in Jammu and Kashmir as the state government was preparing to implement National Food Security Act (NFSA).The most common complaint across the valley was that wrong names have been included in the database while the genuine ones have been excluded, causing anxiety among the people, Singh added.
