Nizam-ud-Din Bhat concerned over discrepancies, Inflated electricity bills to consumers
Demands grant of amnesty to so called defaulters
Bandipora, March 15: Senior Politician and former legislator Nizam-Ud-Din Bhat on Tuesday expressed serious concern over gross discrepancies in electricity bills.
In a Statment issued on Tuesday, Bhat said from past few months serious discrepancies have been witnessed in electricity bills as inflated electricity bills have been served to the people adding to their woes.
He said discrepancies in and exorbitant rates for electricity charges in non-metered areas are causing huge burden to consumers especially in rural belts. He said various deputations from several villages complained about this situation seeking intervention from authorities to have liabilities against poor families waived off along with those whose charges are apparently on higher side.
Bhat said while several states are providing free electricity to their people but rural poor of Kashmir see electricity charges punitive action and against the concept of welfare state.
He said Kashmir jammu and Kashmir otherwise qualifies for a fair deal because of contributing to hydel capacity of the country from our water resources.
Bhat said lieutenant Governor would make genuine case for granting amnesty to so called defaulters and burdened with liabilities as ordinary consumers. He appealed authorities to review the policy in tune with national mood and need of the hour to help out the masses.
The former legislator has brought to the notice of authorities the discrepancies and liabilities arising out of present rates in non metered areas of rural belts.
