DIET organises Seminar to celebrate International Mother Tongue Day

Bandipora, February 21: DIET Bandipora organized a seminar on International Mother Language Day at four locations in the district which includes Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bandipora, Higher Secondary School Aragam, High School Bagh and Higher Secondary School Mantrigam.
The title of the seminar was "Celebration of Mother Tongue Day".
A series of programs was organized at these places under the supervision of Principal DIET Bandipora Matiullah Masoodi.
International Mother Language Day is celebrated every year on 21st February to promote love and respect for mother tongue among the students.
Many students at GGHS Bandipora talked about the importance of Kashmiri language as their mother tongue.
Students from different schools of the district participated in the seminar and the host schools Seerat-ul-Nabi won the first position, while the second and third positions were won by HSS Mantrigam and GHS Nadihal.
International Mother Language Day gives students the opportunity to have a multilingual exhibition in different languages. The purpose of this seminar was to make every child aware of the importance of mother tongue and the role of language in easily understanding and strengthening the cultural roots.
Some local languages like Kashmiri, Pahari, Gojri and Shina were selected for the seminar.
At GHSS Bandipora, Dr. Showkat presented a paper on the importance of Kashmiri language and the guest speaker of HS Plan and teacher Mir Tariq spoke on the colonial aspects of the language.
The program ended with the closing speech of Principal GGHS Muhammad Rafiq Parray. In his speech, he also highlighted the importance of mother tongue and talked about various aspects of linguistic diversity.
