Bandipora, Feb 18, KNT: Outraged over the continued absence of Block Development Officer (BDO), Panchs and Sarpanchs from Nowgam Block of Sonawari here in North Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday sealed the office of the BDO Nowgam.
The Panchayat Body rues the practice of additional syndrome and demanded that a new BDO should be posted in the Block.
The protesters raised the slogans against BDO and ACD Bandipora stating that from last two months, BDO concerned has not visited the office.
Some of the protesters told news agency Kashmir News Trust that they put a lock on the main gate and informed the district administration.
When contacted, ACD Bandipora told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the BDO posted in Nowgam Block has 2 more additional charges. “He (BDO) is also supposed to look after Sumbal and Bonakoot Blocks. We are helpless due to shortage of manpower,” the ACD said and appealed to people to understand the background of the situation.
Later in the evening, ACD Bandipora issued an order directing BDOs with an additional charge to follow a schedule. BDO Nowgam Block has been directed to be present in Nowgam Block on Wednesday and Thursday.
Four BDOs with additional charges in Bandipora district have been asked to be present for two days each a week in 3 blocks falling under them. (KNT)
