Bandipora, January 25: Bandipora Martial Arts Coach Faisal Ali Dar awarded the Padma Shri Award in the sports category on the occasion of Republic Day 2022.
The central government announced the Padma Awards on Tuesday on the occasion of Republic Day. The country's highest civilian awards are given in three categories – Padma Bhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
Faisal Ali, a former international martial arts champion, set up a small martial arts training academy in Bandipora, a rural district in Kashmir. He trained 8-year-old world kickboxing champion Tajmalul Islam as well as 7-year-old Asian karate gold medalist Hashim Mansoor.
