J&K Women Cricket team seals first victory in senior women’s one day Tournament Bengaluru
Bengaluru, March 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Women Cricket Team on Thursday made a thrilling entry into the Senior Women’s Tournament at Bengaluru by sealing a victory against Manipur team by 4 wickets.
The J&K Cricket team played its first match against Manipur state. Manipur while batting first scored 118 runs. Chasing the target of 119 runs, J&K team was given a good start by its opening players. Rudrakshi Chib smashed a half century being the highest scorer (51 not out) of the match followed by Sarla Devi and Insha Bashir.
J&K Team chased the target in 27th over with four wickets still in hand. Earlier Ananda Sharma took 3 wickets helping the team to restrict opposite team to 119 runs.
Sakeena Akthar, who is Cricket coach at Kashmir University is accompanying the J&K Cricket Association team as head coach, said the inaugural match win will boost the morale of the team and will help them in putting pressure on opposite teams in the coming matches. She said the players are working hard and practicing continuously to face any challenges.
The team will play its next match on 13th of this month against Sikkim.
