DC Budgam reviews Muharram arrangements.
Budgam, July 29, CNS: Arrangements for ensuing Muharram-ul-Harram were reviewed today in a meeting convened under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza.
According to CNS, the meeting among others was attended by representatives of prominent Shia Anjumans, besides ADC Budgam, Dr. Nasir Ahmad, CPO, All SDMs, Exen, R&B, PDD, PHE all tehsildars, all EOs and other concerned also attended the meeting.
At the outset, the representatives of various organizations put forward their issues with respect to arrangements for Muharram. Giving a patient hearing to them, the
DDC assured them that all their issues would be resolved. Further he said that the purpose to hold the meeting in advance was to seek their views so that pro active measures can be executed.
With regard to other decisions taken in the meeting, the PDD authorities were directed to ensure High Mast lights/ Halogen Bulbs and LEDs are in place at all important places and besides ensuring generator sets are installed at identified locations, they were also directed to ensure that street lights are fully functional.
The PHE authorities were directed to ensure that water tanks are provided at identified locations. Further they will also ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water during these auspicious days.
The R&B authorities were directed to ensure that the dilapidated roads if any from where the procession would take place are repaired at the earliest. The Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was directed to ensure adequate supply and prompt distribution of ration, and LPG. Regarding firewood the SFC department has been directed to dump the required quantity of firewood at already identified locations as per past practice.
Similarly the Municipal authorities were directed to ensure that there shall be no laxity with regard to sanitation and cleanliness during the prescribed period, they shall launch especial drive well in advance.
Fire and Emergency Authorities were directed to remain prepared to deal with any eventuality. Regarding transport arrangements the concerned authorities were directed to ensure adequate and hassle free transport facilities till the conclusion of the processions.
The District Development Commissioner impressed upon the officers to work in close coordination. He further said keeping in view the current circumstances mainly due to COVID-19 pandemic the decisions taken with regard to status of Muharram processions and other allied arrangements there may fell some need in reshuffling the decisions. Army distributes e-scooters to physically handicapped
Srinagar, 29 July, CNS: In an initiative undertaken by 31 Sub Area as part of its outreach, four physically handicapped individuals Mr Nawaz Ahmed Chupan, Mr Imtiaz Ahmad Ganie, Mr Mukhtar Ahmad Mir and Mr Bashir Ahmad Sofi were presented with E-Scooter. These men in spite of their disability are self-motivated, eager and display tremendous courage, grit and determination. They are inspirations for other people to emulate.
According to an Army press release, on 28th Jul 2020, Maj Gen Raju Chauhan General Officer Commanding, 31 Sub Area, presented the E-Scooters. These E-Scooters would facilitate in their daily commuting and provide a comfortable conveyance for them. Maj Gen Raju Chauhan complimented all the persons for their indomitable spirit and determination to progress in spite of handicaps and assured them of help and support in the future also. The beneficiaries appreciated the constant efforts of the Army in supporting the Awaam in all their endeavours.
