Bandipora, April 23: Massive fire in Chitteybandy and Aragam forests in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District on Tuesday.
The fire broke out in the morning and has spread to a vast area as the concerned officials failed to douse the flames on time. “Fire erupted in compartment No. 145 and 146 in Chitteybandy and Aragam area falling under Ajas forest range of Bandipora and is spreading fast. The locals said that the compartment under fire is very dense in Bandipora division.
Divisional Forest Officer Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad said that a team of officials and workers of the department are busy dousing fire since morning. “We are trying our best to control the fire and have so far succeeded in stopping it from spreading to the adjoining areas.
