Advisor Sharma discusses issue of Power bonds with Union Minister

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 25.  Advisor Governor, K.K.Sharma met Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister, R.K.Singh here today and discussed various issues relating to the raising of power bonds in order to address difficulties being faced by the State in not being able to pay it's power purchase liabilities.

During the meeting, Advisor requested the Union Minister to enable the State Government to raise Power bonds to clear state's outstanding power purchase liabilities, which have swelled beyond Rupees 8,000 Crore. 

Advisor Sharma highlighted that this measure will help state govt. to liquidate all  the power purchase liabilities  of the  CPSUs.

THE Advisor also mentioned that various steps have been taken by the State Government towards power reforms in the state. Recently in the SAC meeting chaired by Governor JK the financial re structuring of JKSPDC has been approved to make the power sector eligible to raise loans and improve balance sheet of the JKSPDC. This will help in corporate borrowings to complete the new power generation projects in the state.

The Power Department recently formed JK State Power Trading Co. that will deal with making instant payments of power purchase bills using   Letter of Credit facility etc with an arrangement from J&K Bank that will make power cheaper in the state.

The Union Minister appreciated the situation of the power sector and assured full support in obtaining Govt of India approvals to the proposal submitted by the State Government.

Union Power Secretary, AK Bhalla and Hirdesh Kumar Singh Commissioner Secretary PDD JK were also present in the meeting.

Advisor Ganai listens to public grievances at JKGGC

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 25: Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai on Monday met scores public delegations and individuals as part of the weekly hearing of public grievances at JK Governor's Grievance Cell.

Several delegations and individuals from various districts of Kashmir division apprised the Advisor of their grievances and sought his intervention in ensuring outcome-based disposal of the same in a time-bound manner.

Various deputations including delegation of residents from Ashmuqam, Assistant Professor aspirants, contractors called on the Advisor to apprise him with the issues faced by them.

A delegation from village Checki Jammo of Ashmuqam flagged the issue of lack of Animal Husbandry centre in the area.

The contractors who have undertaken commissioning and construction of Water Supply Scheme at Sukhnag sought his intervention in release of their payments.

Several other delegations and individuals also flagged of their grievances.

The Advisor gave a patient hearing to all the delegations and assured of immediate action regarding their genuine grievances.

Ganai issued on the spot directions to the concerned asking them to take cognizance of the issues raised by various visiting delegations and sought their immediate redressal at an earliest.
