ReT teachers staged protest in Bpora demanding pending salaries

Bandipora, Nov 28: Hundreds of Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers here on Saturday staged protest demand pending salaries and approval of regularization files. They also castigated government decision to conduct proficiency test for ReT teachers of the state.

Hundreds of ReT Teachers who arrived here at District Headquarter on Saturday   from various parts of Bandipora staged protest in front of Deputy Commissioner Office demanding fulfillment of their demands including release of pending salaries, approval of pending regularization files and withdrawal of decision of conducting proficiency test.

The teachers under the aegis of Jammu Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum District President Khalid Rafique Bhat assembled at Nishat Park and marched towards Deputy Commissioner office where they staged protest and submitted memorandum to Deputy Commissioner and Chief Education Bandipora.

Shouting slogans in favour of their demands and against State Government, the protesters demanded release of salaries of teachers working under SSA and RMSA.

Strictly opposing the screening test for ReTs, Khalid Rafique District President JKReT Forum accused Government of misinterpreting High Court order. “The government is humiliating the nation builders,” he said, adding “whenever the teachers raise voice in favour of their demands the government rakes up the screening test issue”.

“Our teachers are without salaries from last six to nine months besides thousands  of ReT Teachers are awaiting regularization who’s files are pending at different offices” hat said.

The protesting teachers told Rising Kashmir that that none of them have received their monthly salaries for the four to nine months. “How could one survive without an income? It has been four to nine months and not a single month’s salary has been given to us during this period,” complained a teacher Reyaz Ahmed .

Another protesting Teacher Yasmeena Akther of PS Ajar said that her regularization file is pending at DESK from  last  eight months beside having cleared all the  official formalities.

Demanding withdrawal of decision pertaining to proficiency test, protesting teachers

threatened of Valley-wide agitation if the government did not revoke the order at the earliest. “This is injustice. The government is wasting our time. We totally oppose the decision and demand its revocation,” said Khalid Rafique said.

When asked that Director School had clarified departmental stances on proficiency test, President said that   government representatives are issuing confusing and contradicting statements regarding the proficiency test.

“There should be clear statement from the government about the withdrawal decision regarding proficiency test, we can’t believe in confusing statements” Protesting teachers said.

“Government is intentionally harassing and insulting ReT teachers,” They added.

Protesting Teachers said that,” State government has resorted to its routine delay tactics and non-seriousness as a result there was no headway in redressing the salary related problems. So to awaken the government from its deep slumber and to get the issues resolved, we launched this protest programme.
