Srinagar, Nov 24 (KNS): Civil Society Forum Kashmir Tuesday said that the Health minister Lal Singh should not flout the norms and sideline the constitution by trying to make efforts to keep the post of VC of SKIMS for himself.
In a statement to KNS, the Forum fails to understand what is the pressing need to take such an unprecedented step?
CSFK requested the health minister to focus on the district and territory care hospitals instead of expanding the scope of his office to SKIMS.
“The hospital has been a pioneer in health care in the state and it has retained the professional ethos by ensuring its autonomous nature. There is a constitution and set of rules with which the institution has been functioning.”
CSFK strongly suggests the health minister to ensure betterment of the health care of the state through established institutes which come under the purview of the health department. The infrastructure of hospitals across the state needs a dedicated eye on them. There is an urgent need to look at the requirements like equipments, manpower, medicines and staff. Some hospitals have equipments but not doctors and technicians, some have doctors but not equipments and some lack both .Funding can be no excuse now as health care has been adequately funded in the recent package given by GOI.
“We hope funds are best utilised without any corruption and mismanagement. It is the duty and responsibility of health minister to ensure not a single person in the state suffers due to lack of adequate medical care and facilities.”
