Bandipora, March 06: One of the popular officers of Bandipora, Naib-Tehsildar Khayar Bashir Ahmad Mapnoo passed away on Tuesday at SKIMS after brief illness, he was 46.
Mapnoo was a resident of Khandiyal village of valley Gurez and was presently residing at Greenland colony Ajar Bandipora. He left behind 3 sons and wife.
He was appointed as Patwari in 2002 and promoted as Naib Tehsildar in year 2012 and was posted at Bandipora as Naib Tehsildar Khayar. He was very popular in the town for his people-friendly approach and was known for his kindness and dedication towards his job.
His sudden death came as a shock as hundreds of people converged at his residence to participate in the last rites. At DC Office Bandipora, DC Bandipora cut short his spot inspection of various ongoing works as the news about his death reached Bandipora.
The DC Bandipora cancelled all his engagements and called an emergency condolence meeting at his office.
Thousands of people participated in the Namaz-e-Jenazah of the deceased officer.
Deputy Speaker JK legislative Assembly Nazir Gurezi, Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora, DC Badipora Sajjad Hussain Ganai, ADC Bandipora, DSWO Bandipora, Dy Chief Education Officer Tehsildars of various Tehsils and other senior officers of the district participated in the funeral.
