New Delhi, Oct 13: The Department of Posts and IndiGo have launched an in-flight digital detox campaign to encourage passengers to take a break from electronic devices and reconnect with loved ones through handwritten letters.

An official spokesperson said the campaign was organised on October 12 to mark Philately Day during National Postal Week, observed from October 9 to 15, according to the Ministry of Communications.

Under the initiative, passengers on select IndiGo flights were given specially designed digital detox kits containing postcards. After writing their messages, travellers could deposit the postcards in dedicated India Post letter boxes installed at arrival airports for onward delivery.

The campaign covered flights connecting Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. The postcards featured iconic landmarks from the participating cities.

A passenger described the experience as an opportunity to write a postcard at 30,000 feet, saying the journey offered a peaceful moment to put thoughts on paper for special people in their life.

The initiative highlighted the importance of reducing screen time, improving focus and strengthening personal relationships through handwritten communication.

India Post said the campaign reflected its continued efforts to promote the tradition of letter writing and bring people closer through meaningful communication during an increasingly digital age.
