Srinagar, Oct 07: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjeev Verma on Wednesday announced a special two-day intensive voter enrolment drive across the Union Territory on October 10 and 11, 2026.
The weekend drive, which will be conducted at all polling stations from 9 am to 5 pm, marks the beginning of a regular weekend voter facilitation initiative aimed at providing eligible citizens—particularly first-time voters, women, and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)—an accessible opportunity to enrol themselves and update or correct their electoral particulars.
An official spokesperson said the decision was taken during a review meeting chaired by Verma with District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to finalize arrangements.
Directing the election machinery to ensure extensive outreach, Verma as per Kashmir Convener said the objective is to ensure that no eligible citizen remains outside the electoral rolls. He directed DEOs and EROs to undertake institutional and public outreach to create awareness about the initiative, while calling for regular ground-level updates through official social media platforms.
As part of the exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will remain stationed at all polling stations to assist citizens with the submission of Forms 6, 7, and 8—facilitating new enrolments, deletions, and corrections. Citizens will be provided assistance for both physical submission of forms and digital submission through the Voter Helpline App.
To bridge the last-mile gap, the CEO directed BLOs to undertake door-to-door outreach to identify and assist eligible citizens who may have been left out of the rolls, with a particular focus on youth and other marginalized groups requiring assistance.
