Claims Major Counter-Terror Gains in September

Srinagar, Oct 1: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Prabhat Kumar on Thursday asserted that the designs of impure neighbours are being defeated every day, claiming September was a month of major operational successes for the force in counter-terrorism even as it simultaneously handled law and order and crime detection.
Speaking at the flag-in ceremony of the “Run for Unity” marathon at Lake View Environmental Park, Police Golf Course, Dal Lake, DGP as per Kashmir Convener said the force was working round the clock to neutralise terror plans.
J&K Police, in an attempt to neutralise the plans of the impure neighbours… the counter-terrorist operations that we carry out, under your guidance, the month of September has been a month of joy for us, and a month of many operational achievements, he said.
DGP said the rising participation of children and youth in the marathon reflected their commitment to peace and a better future.
The youth of Kashmir, the residents of the whole of J&K, are investing in peace, peace over violence, progress over destruction, and most importantly, for light. J&K has risen from darkness to light, he said.
He said the police were increasingly involving youngsters through sports tournaments and the Civic Action Programme.
On the anti-narcotics campaign, the DGP said 3,257 cases have been registered so far, of which more than 2,500 have been disposed of, with around 4,000 people arrested and 170 convictions secured.
He said 288 properties worth over ₹138 crore have been attached, besides seizure of cash exceeding ₹80 lakh.
The police chief also claimed J&K Police was at the top in the country in preventive detention under PIT-NDPS, with 144 people booked.
Referring to the annual Amanat Ji Yatra, he said 19 Mountain Rescue Teams of the J&K Armed Police were deployed during this year’s pilgrimage.
On the Gulmarg gondola incident in which tourists were stranded, Kumar praised the J&K Police Mountain Rescue Teams and SBRF personnel for the rescue operation.
He also cited the Armed Police’s mountaineering and sports achievements, including successful summit attempts at Kang Yatse in Ladakh and Kolahoi in Anantnag, and a medal at the Asian Championship in Vietnam.
Because of you, the contact of the J&K Police with the youth is getting closer day by day, DGP said.
