BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 30: Sherpathri Agro Producers Cooperative Limited, Ganderbal, today undertook an exposure visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora-1, SKUAST-K, to gain first-hand knowledge of improved agricultural practices, crop diversification and emerging agri-entrepreneurship opportunities.
The visiting farmers particularly showed keen interest in the cultivation of lotus, water chestnut and makhana, and visited the demonstration plots to understand their production practices and livelihood potential.
A presentation was delivered highlighting the major activities and achievements of KVK Bandipora-1. An interactive session was subsequently held, during which the FPO members discussed their field-level experiences, production challenges and opportunities for adopting new agricultural enterprises.
Students of the Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) Programme of the Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-K, also interacted with the FPO members.
Dr. Tariq Sultan, Programme Coordinator, KVK Bandipora-1, interacted with the visiting FPO members and emphasized the importance of diversification, adoption of improved technologies, collective marketing and value addition for enhancing farm income and strengthening rural livelihoods.
The exposure visit provided the FPO members with an opportunity to observe successful demonstrations and explore new avenues for enhancing farm income through innovative crops, diversified farming systems and value-added agricultural enterprises.
