Bandipora, September 25: The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF), Bandipora, has condemned a reported statement by PDP District President Bandipora Syed Sajad Hussain advocating mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for serving teachers.
In a statement issued to the media, the forum said the reported remarks had come at a time when, according to JKGLTF, the J&K Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution seeking exemption from TET for teachers appointed before October 31, 2019, along with necessary amendments to the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
JKGLTF said the experience, length of service and contribution of serving teachers should be recognised and should not be assessed solely through an eligibility examination.
The forum also expressed appreciation for Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and School Education Minister Sakeena Masood Itoo for, as stated by JKGLTF, supporting the resolution and taking up the concerns of serving teachers.
“JKGLTF Bandipora stands firmly with the legitimate concerns of serving teachers and strongly condemns the reported statement,” the forum said.
