Tribal Student Hosts Bandipora’s Independence Day Function in Historic First
Hostel students secure first position in cultural show, second in March Past

BANDIPORA, AUGUST 15: In a significant first for the district, Waseem Ahmad Poswal, a tribal student of Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel, Bandipora, hosted the district-level Independence Day function on Friday, marking a proud milestone for the institution and its students.
Waseem confidently conducted the proceedings of the prestigious national function in the presence of Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Indu Kanwal Chib, senior district administration officials, students and a large gathering of people.
Adding to the occasion, students of the Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel secured first position in the Cultural Show and second position in the March Past, showcasing their talent, discipline, confidence and team spirit.
Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib felicitated the students and appreciated their impressive performance and enthusiastic participation in the Independence Day celebrations. Senior officers of the district administration also lauded the students and appreciated the hostel administration for creating opportunities for tribal students to develop confidence, leadership and personality skills.
The participation of a tribal student in hosting the district-level Independence Day function is being seen as an important step towards promoting inclusive participation, tribal empowerment and youth leadership.
Officials said the initiative has provided students from tribal communities an opportunity to participate meaningfully in a major public function and demonstrate their capabilities before a wider audience.
They said the achievement also highlights the importance of providing tribal students with opportunities beyond academics, including public speaking, leadership, cultural activities, sports and other co-curricular pursuits. “Such platforms can play an important role in building confidence and preparing young people for greater participation in public life”.
The strong performance of the hostel students on Independence Day has brought recognition to the Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel, Bandipora, and is expected to inspire more tribal youth to participate confidently, pursue their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.
