Jammu, July 25: The Indian Army on Friday commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas with solemn tributes to the nation’s fallen heroes while also organising community welfare initiatives, including a yoga session in Ramban and a large-scale medical camp in Rajouri.
At Akhnoor, Army troops observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with reverence, paying homage to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War. The event was attended by 30 Kargil War veterans, including a Veer Nari, and 20 NCC cadets from Army Public School, Rakhmuthi.
As part of the commemoration, the Army organised a display of modern weapons and equipment, providing veterans, cadets and local participants with an insight into the capabilities of contemporary weapon systems. The veterans also shared their experiences from the Kargil conflict, inspiring the younger generation with stories of courage, sacrifice and patriotism. The programme reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to preserving the legacy of Kargil heroes while strengthening ties with the local community.
In Trajbal, Ramban, the Indian Army conducted a Yoga Session to promote physical fitness, mental well-being and healthy living among local residents and youth. Participants were guided through various yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques aimed at improving flexibility, reducing stress and enhancing overall wellness. The programme also served as an opportunity for meaningful interaction between the Army and the local population, reinforcing mutual trust and encouraging healthier lifestyles.
Meanwhile, in Mandirgala, Rajouri, the Indian Army, in coordination with the Block Medical Administration, Kandi, organised a medical camp at Sakri Mandir to improve access to healthcare in remote areas.
A team of specialist doctors and paramedical staff provided free medical consultations, health check-ups and medicines to residents from several surrounding villages. The camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with around 600 beneficiaries, including women, children and elderly citizens, availing themselves of the services.
The initiatives highlighted the Indian Army’s continued commitment to honouring the nation’s heroes while promoting community welfare through healthcare, wellness and people-centric outreach programmes across Jammu and Kashmir.
