Ganderbal, June 30: In preparation for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra-2026, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive on-ground review of security arrangements and deployment plans in Ganderbal district.
The IGP was accompanied by senior police officers, including the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Central Kashmir Range, DIG North Kashmir Range, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, SSP Ganderbal, SSP Bandipora, SP Operations Srinagar, along with other officers from the Police and Civil Administration.
During the visit, the IGP inspected the Manigam Transit Camp and took stock of the arrangements being made to ensure the smooth, secure and hassle-free movement of pilgrims undertaking the annual yatra.
He also reviewed the deployment of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other security components at key locations along the Yatra route, assessing operational preparedness and coordination among various agencies.
The visit formed part of the overall security review ahead of the commencement of the annual pilgrimage, with emphasis on ensuring robust security, effective deployment and seamless management of the pilgrimage route.
