Muharram Procession: Movement on Srinagar–Sumbal–Bandipora Road to Remain Affected for Nearly 10 Hours

Bandipora, June 27: The District Administration Bandipora has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the 12th Muharram procession scheduled to be held on Sunday (June 28), informing the public that vehicular movement on the Srinagar–Sumbal–Bandipora road will remain affected for several hours.

 

According to the advisory issued by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, traffic movement along the road will remain affected from 12:30 pm to 10:00 pm due to the Muharram procession from Dangerpora to Shahtulpora. Motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel on the affected stretch during the notified period.

 

 

To regulate traffic, the administration has announced a series of diversions. Vehicles travelling from Srinagar towards Bandipora and Gurez will be routed via Sopore–Bandipora–Gurez, while traffic coming from Gurez and Bandipora towards Srinagar will be diverted at Chewa-Safapora via Ganderbal.

 

Traffic moving from Sumbal towards Srinagar has been advised to take the Naidkhai–Hamray–Narbal–Srinagar route, while vehicles travelling from Srinagar towards Sumbal will be diverted via Takanwari and Shadipora Bridge.

 

The administration has also declared the Dangerpora–Shahtulpora road stretch a complete no-ply zone during the procession to facilitate its smooth and peaceful conduct.

 

The advisory has been issued in the interest of public safety and convenience, and commuters have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with the traffic police and district administration. [KNT]
