MY Bharat, Partners Celebrate International Yoga Day at Manasbal Lake

Ganderbal, June 21: MY Bharat Ganderbal, in collaboration with Zariya – The Unseen Hands Youth Club and the Wullar Manasbal Development Authority (WMDA), organised a yoga programme at Manasbal Lake to mark International Yoga Day 2026.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, the organisers said that the event was held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being and healthy living through the practice of yoga.
The programme was attended by District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Srinagar/Ganderbal, Gopal Namdeo, as Chief Guest, while Chief Executive Officer, WMDA, Dr. Ahsanul Haq Chishti, attended as Special Guest.
The statement said that more than 180 students, youth volunteers and local residents participated in the event and performed various yoga asanas. The guests interacted with the participants and highlighted the importance of making yoga a regular part of daily life.
According to the organisers, students from New Delight Educational Institute, Safapora and Saddat Valley Institute, Wakura, actively participated in the programme. The principals and teaching staff of both institutions also extended support to ensure the success of the event.
The organisers expressed gratitude to WMDA for providing logistical support and necessary facilities for the smooth conduct of the programme.
The statement further said that volunteers of Zariya – The Unseen Hands Youth Club played a key role in coordinating various aspects of the event, including registration, participant management and overall organisation.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting youth engagement, healthy living and community development through similar initiatives in the future.
