Kargil, June 19: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has extended financial assistance of ₹1.25 crore to the District Administration of Kargil, Ladakh, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

The funding is aimed at strengthening education, healthcare and drinking water infrastructure in the district and is expected to benefit nearly 1.95 lakh residents across Kargil.

As part of the initiative, a 40-seater school bus was flagged off on June 19 by REC Limited Chairman and Managing Director Jitendra Srivastava. The event was attended by the Joint Secretary, Transmission, Ministry of Power, Government of India, RECPDCL CEO Prince Dhawan, and senior officials of the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh and the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil.

Officials said the school bus will provide safe and reliable transportation to students in the region’s remote and mountainous areas, helping improve access to education and reducing transportation challenges faced by children.

The initiative forms part of RECPDCL’s broader commitment to supporting sustainable development and improving essential public infrastructure in underserved regions.

The company said the support reflects its focus on empowering remote communities through investments in critical sectors such as education, healthcare and access to safe drinking water.
