DIG North Kashmir Reviews Security Preparedness, Police Functioning in Bandipora

Bandipora, June 18: Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range (NKR), on Thursday conducted a comprehensive security review in Bandipora district, focusing on the functioning of police stations, operational preparedness and arrangements for upcoming religious events.

During the visit, the DIG was accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Bandipora, and other officers. He inspected Police Post Aloosa, Police Station Bandipora and Police Station Aragam, where he reviewed infrastructure, deployment patterns and the operational readiness of police personnel.

Officials said the DIG interacted with officers and staff at each establishment to assess station-level functioning and issued directions aimed at improving efficiency, accountability and preparedness. Structured review meetings were also held to evaluate crime control measures, coordination among police units and the overall performance of police stations and posts across the district.

The review emphasized the importance of intelligence-based policing, enhanced coordination and proactive functioning at the police station level to effectively respond to emerging security challenges.

At Police Station Aragam and Police Station Bandipora, the DIG reviewed the implementation and functioning of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) and other digital platforms, including the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). He stressed the need for accurate, timely and quality data entry on the CCTNS platform and directed officers to ensure regular updating and proper management of records.

The DIG also assessed security and administrative arrangements being put in place for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026 and Muharram observances in the Sumbal sub-division. During the review, he highlighted the importance of detailed planning, inter-agency coordination and preventive measures to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of both events.

Addressing officers, the DIG underscored the importance of vigilance, discipline and professionalism in policing. He directed police personnel to strengthen patrolling, maintain operational readiness and ensure the efficient functioning of police stations and field units.

Officials said the visit formed part of ongoing efforts to review security preparedness, improve policing standards and strengthen coordination among various units in North Kashmir ahead of major public and religious gatherings.

The review concluded with directions to field officers to remain alert, enhance public outreach and continue efforts aimed at maintaining law and order across the district.
