In a statement, Majid said the displaced families have continued to face difficulties for the past 12 years and accused different political administrations of failing to provide permanent rehabilitation or adequate living facilities.
He alleged that the affected residents were living without basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity, healthcare facilities, roads and permanent housing. According to Majid, many families are still residing in temporary shelters and continue to face uncertainty regarding rehabilitation.
“These families have been betrayed again and again. Every regime promised rehabilitation, every leader spoke of justice, but the reality is that these people are still living in darkness, poverty and uncertainty,” he said.
Majid also criticised authorities for allegedly not allowing residents to construct permanent homes at their current place of residence. He questioned the delay in rehabilitation efforts and said the affected population should either be relocated to a suitable area with basic facilities or permitted to build permanent structures where they are presently staying.
The former MLA termed the issue a humanitarian concern and urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to intervene and resolve the matter on priority.
He further said that continued delays in rehabilitation had increased hardship for families displaced from the village and called for immediate policy-level action to address their concerns.
Majid warned that prolonged inaction could deepen public resentment and urged authorities to ensure dignified living conditions for the affected population.
There was no immediate response from the administration regarding the allegations raised by the former minister.
