Bandipora, May 8: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Bandipora on Thursday organised a one-day workshop on investigation of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau Unit Srinagar.
The workshop was held at the Conference Hall of District Police Lines (DPL) Bandipora as part of the ongoing capacity-building initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.
According to officials, the programme aimed to sensitise and train Investigating Officers (IOs) regarding mandatory legal provisions and procedural requirements to be followed during investigation of NDPS-related cases and FIRs.
Senior police officers, including Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, attended the workshop along with the Additional SP Bandipora, DySP Headquarters, SDPO Sumbal, SDPO Gurez, DySP DAR Bandipora, DySP SOG Bandipora/Hajin, Station House Officers and Incharge Police Posts of the district.
Police said around 50 Investigating Officers from different police units of Bandipora district participated in the training programme.
The workshop was conducted in close coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau Srinagar Unit. The technical sessions were led by Superintendent NCB Srinagar Lav Kumar Singh, SI NCB Srinagar Abhishek Sharma and Public Prosecutor NCB Srinagar Aftab Jeelani Wani.
The experts delivered sessions on legal provisions under the NDPS Act, procedural safeguards, documentation, evidence handling and best practices in investigation of drug-related offences.
Officials said the workshop was aimed at enhancing the investigative skills and professional competence of police officers to ensure effective and lawful handling of narcotics cases.
