Bandipora, May 1: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Constituency Incharge/Zonal Secretary North, Adv. Nazir Malik, on Thursday welcomed the appointment of Dr. Zahoor Sofi as District President Bandipora, describing the move as a significant step towards strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
In a statement issued through the party’s media cell, Malik said Dr. Sofi is a “highly qualified and seasoned individual” who has emerged as a grassroots leader through years of dedication and public service. He said Dr. Sofi possesses a deep understanding of the district and its issues due to his long association with the people and the party organization.
Malik stated that Dr. Sofi is known for his calm approach and ability to engage with people across different sections of society. He added that his “inclusive approach” and listening skills make him suitable for the responsibility entrusted to him by the party leadership.
Calling him a “non-controversial and selfless leader,” Malik said Dr. Sofi has consistently worked for public welfare and remained connected with the people of the district. He said the appointment reflects the confidence reposed by the party leadership in experienced and committed workers.
According to the statement, Malik said Dr. Sofi’s elevation was a “mature and well-thought-out decision” taken after considering his experience and familiarity with the district’s political and social landscape.
He further claimed that the appointment has generated fresh enthusiasm among party cadres at the grassroots level and would help strengthen the party’s organisational structure in Bandipora.
Malik also expressed gratitude to the National Conference leadership, particularly party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah, for what he termed as promoting capable leadership within the organisation.
He expressed confidence that the party would become “stronger, more united and people-centric” under Dr. Sofi’s leadership in Bandipora.
The National Conference has been making organisational changes in different districts as part of its efforts to strengthen party structures ahead of future political engagements in Jammu and Kashmir.
