Bandipora, April 30: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Thursday nominated Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Sofi as the In-Charge District President of the party in Bandipora. The order in this regard was issued by Provincial President Showkat Ahmad Mir.
The development comes months after the party, under the leadership of its president Farooq Abdullah, dissolved the Bandipora district committee on January 6 this year, citing serious procedural violations and internal discord.
The action came after a series of conflicting orders issued by the then In-Charge District President, Bandipora, Nazir Gurezi which had sparked a controversy within the party.
Earlier directives by Nazir Gurezi had appointed Mushtaq Ahmad Wani as Block President and Jalal Akbar Lone -as Vice President of the District — appointments that the Bandipora unit deemed “unconstitutional and illegal”, citing violations of party norms and procedures.
Following the development The Bandipora unit formally lodged grievances with the JKNC High Command, highlighting that these unilateral appointments disregarded constitutional procedures and ignored consultations with senior party functionaries.
In response, the Party High Command dissolved the entire District Body, reinforcing its commitment to democratic and procedural norms.
