20 Vehicles, 59 Illegal Mineral Dumps Seized; Panelties worth ₹16.25 Lakh Collected in 20 Days

Pulwama, April 21: The Geology and Mining Department, Jammu and Kashmir, has intensified its enforcement drive across Pulwama district, seizing three vehicles and three illegal mineral dumps during fresh inspections carried out under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama.
Officials said the action is part of an ongoing campaign against illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, which has been causing environmental damage and revenue loss. Over the past 20 days, authorities have seized more than 20 vehicles and 59 illegal mineral dumps, besides collecting penalties amounting to ₹16.25 lakh from violators.
The department stated that the drive will be further intensified, especially during night hours, with increased surprise inspections and naka checks. Transporters, crusher owners and contractors have been urged to adhere to legal norms, with strict action and heavy penalties warned against violators.
