SHOPIAN, April 17: Shopian Police today conducted a special anti-drug Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) across various identified NDPS hotspots in the district as part of its continued efforts under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to curb drug abuse and related activities.
During the operation, police teams established cordons and carried out searches of unoccupied areas, abandoned and dilapidated structures, and other locations identified as vulnerable to misuse by drug addicts and anti-social elements. These areas were systematically covered to ensure that such spaces are not used for unlawful activities.
In addition, medical shops and other establishments were inspected to verify adherence to prescribed norms governing the sale and distribution of medicines. Records and stock registers were checked as per established procedures.
Shopian Police reiterates its commitment to strict action against drug abuse and urges the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug trafficking or substance abuse. Identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential
