Northern Command Honours Outstanding Innovators of Chinar Corps Army Goodwill Schools

Srinagar, April 9, 2026: The Indian Army Northern Command on Wednesday honoured outstanding innovators, sportspersons and achievers from Chinar Corps Army Goodwill Schools during an Inauguration-cum-Felicitation Ceremony held at Badami Bagh Cantonment.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command Pratik Sharma and Shinei Sharma, Regional President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Northern Command felicitated students, teachers and parents for their achievements.

An official spokesperson said the event, organised by the Chinar Corps, aimed at promoting innovation, sports and academic excellence among students across the Valley. The Army Goodwill Schools (AGS), a network of 28 institutions run under the initiative, continue to focus on holistic development by encouraging science, innovation, sports and co-curricular activities alongside academics.

The schools have earned recognition at national platforms through events such as Innofest and inter-AGS competitions, securing honours including the ARISE Excellence Award, Young Scientist Award and accolades in ISRO-led programmes.

Among those honoured were Miss Faika Farheen of AGS Butkot and Miss Fiza Fayaz of AGS Bandipora for their innovative projects, which have also been successfully implemented at the cantonment, setting new benchmarks for student-led innovation in the region.

The AWWA also felicitated eight outstanding achievers from the 15 Corps Zone for excellence in academics and sports, highlighting the transformative role of a supportive educational environment.

The event concluded with an interactive session between the dignitaries and participants, inspiring students and reinforcing a collective commitment towards empowerment through quality education and innovation.
