Over 3.34 Lakh PMAY-G beneficiaries identified; fresh survey on for left-out families: Govt

Jammu, Apr 2:  The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that over 3.34 lakh beneficiaries have been identified under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in the Union Territory, while a fresh survey is underway to cover all eligible houseless and landless families left out in earlier phases.

In a written reply to a question raised by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA from Pulwama, Waheed ur Rehman Para, Minister In-charge of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj said district-wise details of beneficiaries and land allotment have been submitted and as per the government data, Rajouri district recorded the highest number of identified beneficiaries at 62,181, followed by Jammu (49,260) and Doda (30,412). The total number of beneficiaries across 20 districts stands at 3,34,639.

Regarding land allotment, authorities have provided land to 507 landless beneficiaries under the scheme, with maximum allotments reported in Anantnag (114), Bandipora (62), and Baramulla (55).

The minister said a fresh survey using the Awaas+ 2024 app has been conducted to identify eligible houseless and landless families who were left out during PMAY-G phase-I. “Verification of surveyed households is being carried out at district and block levels to ensure inclusion of all eligible beneficiaries,” the reply stated.

He added that land is being facilitated for landless beneficiaries through close coordination with the Revenue Department after due verification. Regular monitoring and review meetings are being held at UT, district, and block levels to expedite the process and ensure timely completion as per Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India guidelines.
