Over 18,000 Candidates Appear in Nursing Diploma Exams Across J&K, Ladakh

Srinagar, March 29: As many as 18,040 candidates appeared in diploma examinations in nursing and allied healthcare disciplines conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Nursing Council in collaboration with the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Paramedical Council across the Union Territory on Sunday.

Officials said the examinations were held at 31 centres across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including 17 centres in the Kashmir division covering 10 districts and Ladakh, and 14 centres in the Jammu division.

A special examination centre was also established at Central Jail Srinagar for a single candidate following a request from the jail authorities, officials said.

According to data shared by the council, 8,720 candidates appeared in the Kashmir division, while 9,277 candidates appeared in the Jammu division. Additionally, 43 candidates appeared for the examination in Ladakh.

The examinations were conducted across 33 papers covering 15 streams in nursing and allied healthcare courses.

Officials said arrangements were put in place at all centres to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations. The process was carried out under the supervision of designated authorities at the respective centres.

The council stated that the conduct of examinations across multiple locations reflects ongoing efforts to maintain academic standards in professional healthcare education.

The examinations are part of the diploma-level training framework aimed at preparing candidates for roles in nursing and allied healthcare services.

Officials added that such examinations play a role in strengthening the pool of trained healthcare personnel across the region.
