‘If goodness had a face, it was his’: Pall of gloom in Bandipora after youth’s death in accident

Srinagar, Mar 22: A pall of gloom descended over Bandipora on Eid-ul-Fitr after a young man died in a road accident in Gundpora Rampora area on Sunday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Saleem Bin Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Gundpora Rampora.

Eyewitnesses said the news of Saleem’s death spread quickly across the area, casting a shadow over Eid celebrations.

Locals described him as a cheerful and kind-hearted person, known for his warmth and friendly nature.

Hundreds of people gathered in Gundpora Rampora to offer Nimaz-e-jinaza, which was held at around 11:00 pm. The funeral witnessed an outpouring of grief, with residents, relatives and friends in attendance.

“He was always smiling and would make everyone feel welcome. If goodness had a face, it was his,” one of his friends said.

Family members said Saleem is survived by his wife and an 18-month-old daughter.

Residents expressed shock over the sudden loss, saying his death has left a deep void in the community.

Hundreds of people mourned Saleem’s death on Eid-ul-Fitr, with many describing him as a kind-hearted person. Social media platforms were flooded with condolence messages following news of his passing, as friends, relatives and locals shared memories and prayers in his remembrance.

MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Shahzad Ahmad Parray of Gundpora Rampora, Bandipora, saying his passing at such a young age is shocking and heartbreaking.

He described the deceased as a pious and humble soul whose loss is deeply felt by the entire community.

He extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty Allah grant the departed soul the highest place in Jannah and bestow patience and strength upon the family during this difficult time.

“Deeply saddened by the tragic demise of Saleem Bin Nazir of Gundpora Rampora in a road accident. May Almighty Allah grant him Jannat-ul-Firdous and give strength and patience to his bereaved family,” said former Minister Usman Majid.
