Bandipora, March 16: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl, on Monday chaired a meeting at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora to review preparations for the Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll 2026.

During the meeting, Deputy District Election Officer Bandipora, Hilal Ahmad, briefed the chair about the overall preparedness for the revision exercise and informed that arrangements are being put in place at both district and block levels.

The meeting was attended by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of the three Assembly Constituencies, the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Block Development Officers serving as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) for Panchayats, and other concerned officials. Officers from Gurez and Tulail blocks also joined the meeting through virtual mode.

Officials discussed various agenda points related to the electoral roll revision process, including integration of supplementary electoral data by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), downloading and printing of draft electoral rolls at the district level, and ensuring availability of required forms such as PEB-2A, PEB-2B, PEB-2C and PEB-2D at block offices.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements for printing electoral rolls in both English and Urdu, updating the lists of EROs, AEROs and Panchayat Electoral Booth Officers (PEBOs) on the district website, and identification of manpower for data entry and collection of forms at the block level.

Officials were directed to ensure availability of necessary infrastructure, including computers and internet connectivity at block headquarters, to facilitate the revision process.

The ADC stressed that the integration of supplementary data and downloading of electoral rolls must be carried out with caution, particularly while handling deletion of entries, to avoid discrepancies in the voter lists.

He also directed the concerned officers to hold meetings with representatives of political parties and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to ensure transparency and awareness during the revision exercise.

The meeting further discussed the organisation of special camps at polling booth locations to facilitate submission of claims and objections by voters. Electoral Registration Officers were instructed to ensure proper disposal of claims and objections and timely submission of reports to the State Election Commission through the designated channels.

The ADC emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure that the revision process is conducted smoothly and that all eligible voters are included in the Panchayat electoral rolls.
