Srinagar, Mar 11: Amid concerns over supply disruptions, Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday assured the public of adequate availability of petroleum products and LPG, while warning of strict action against hoarders and black marketers.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma issued a video statement urging people not to panic or pay heed to rumours regarding fuel shortages.

“There is enough stock of petrol, diesel and LPG available in the Union Territory. The government is monitoring the supply situation closely and all necessary measures are in place to ensure seamless availability,” the Minister said.

He further stated that strict directions have been issued to officials to maintain close vigilance over the supply and distribution network. Enforcement teams and officials from the Legal Metrology department have been directed to intensify inspections at fuel stations and LPG outlets to check overcharging and ensure adherence to consumer norms.

“We will take strict action against anyone found involved in hoarding, black marketing, or overcharging of essential fuel supplies. This is a testing time, and violators will not be spared,” Sharma added.

Appealing for public cooperation, the Minister urged citizens to rely only on official information and report any instances of irregularities to the authorities for prompt action.
