Kupwara, Feb 23: Art educator Rouble Nagi on Monday visited Amrohi, a village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, and announced the establishment of a computer learning centre for local children.

Nagi, who was recently conferred a global teaching honour in Dubai, interacted with residents during her visit to the frontier village and reviewed issues faced by families living along the LoC, according to a statement issued by her office.

The proposed computer centre, officials said, is aimed at promoting digital literacy among students in the remote border belt and bridging the technological gap faced by children in far-flung areas.

As part of the outreach, blankets were also distributed among underprivileged families.

Addressing villagers, Nagi termed her recent international recognition a proud moment for the country and said she remains committed to expanding educational access for marginalised communities. “It is our responsibility to ensure that children living in border areas have access to modern education and skills,” she said.

Border villages along the LoC in north Kashmir often face infrastructural constraints and limited access to educational resources, with civil society initiatives periodically stepping in to supplement state-run facilities.
