Jammu, Feb 20: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday informed the Legislative Assembly that major steps are being taken to strengthen power infrastructure in Bandipora Assembly constituency, with a new 310 MVA grid station proposed and a receiving station approved to meet future demand.

In a written reply to Legislator Nizam-ud-Din Bhat during the ongoing budget session, the government as per Kashmir Convener stated that while the constituency is largely electrified, five newly emerged hamlets—Weaven Labkachal, Moosa Colony Authwatoo, Reshwari Mugam, Chandaji, and Arin Hapatnar—have been identified for providing electricity connections, with Chandaji already taken up for electrification this fiscal.

Detailing infrastructure augmentation, the Minister informed that the existing 132/33 kV Grid Sub-Station Bandipora, commissioned in 2019-20 with 50 MVA capacity, has been upgraded to 100 MVA in 2022-23.

“Present recorded peak load of the Grid Sub-Station is 70 MW. To cater to future load growth, a new 310 MVA, 220/132 kV Grid Sub-Station at Bandipora has been envisaged, and the proposal has been submitted to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for necessary approval,” the reply stated.

At the sub-transmission level, the government has approved establishment of 1×10 MVA Receiving Station at Arin under UT CAPEX 2025-26. The matter for land allotment has been taken up with the District Administration as the site is yet to be identified, the House was informed.
