Indian Army Celebrates World Radio Day in Rajouri

Rajouri, Feb 13: The Indian Army on Thursday marked World Radio Day 2026 and carried out a community cleanliness drive in Rajouri district, reinforcing its continued outreach initiatives focused on youth empowerment and civic responsibility.

As part of World Radio Day celebrations, nine students from Army Goodwill Public School (AGPS), Rajouri were given an opportunity to participate in a workshop at the Sada-e-Pir Panjal Community Radio Station. Organised by the Ace of Spades Gunners, the programme provided structured exposure to broadcasting and media engagement.

During the session, students showcased their talents through poetry, songs and storytelling on a live platform, gaining first-hand experience of radio broadcasting. The initiative aimed at nurturing creativity, confidence and communication skills among the participants, while highlighting the role of radio as a powerful medium of community connection and expression.

In a parallel initiative, a cleanliness drive and awareness programme was conducted in Village Punthal, Rajouri, under the aegis of the Ace of Spades Division. Army personnel and local residents jointly participated in cleaning public spaces and promoting proper waste management practices.

Awareness sessions were also organised to emphasise hygiene, environmental responsibility and community participation in maintaining clean surroundings. The collaborative effort strengthened civil-military cooperation while fostering a sense of shared responsibility among residents.

Spokesperson said these initiatives underline the Indian Army’s continued commitment to youth engagement, community development and strengthening bonds with the local population across Rajouri district. (PIB)
