Convener News Desk

Srinagar, Feb 12: A sizable group of residents from Gasoo in the Hazratbal Assembly segment on Tuesday joined the Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist People’s Front (JKNPF), in what the party described as a significant organisational gain in the constituency.

Several of those who joined were said to have earlier been associated with the National Conference. Local sources indicated that some workers felt sidelined in recent months, prompting them to shift allegiance.

The joining ceremony was attended by JKNPF President Jasif Ahmad Khan; Senior Vice President and Constituency In-charge Hazratbal, Basit Bashir Gagroo; Vice President Tanveer Jeelani; Youth President Sheeraz Ahmad Pandith; Constituency In-charge Chanapora Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai; Grievance Head Siraj-ud-Din; and other party leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Jasif Ahmad Khan said the development reflected increasing public outreach of the party and assured residents that pending developmental issues would be taken up on priority. Basit Bashir Gagroo stated that the Hazratbal constituency would receive focused attention and stronger representation.

Party leaders termed the joining a boost to JKNPF’s grassroots presence, while political observers view it as part of ongoing realignments within the constituency.
